Corrosion Mitigation
Protection and rehabilitation of reinforced concrete structures affected by reinforcement corrosion — from investigation through to long-term durability protection.
Understanding Reinforcement Corrosion
Reinforcement corrosion is the most widespread cause of premature deterioration in reinforced concrete structures. When steel reinforcement corrodes, it expands in volume, generating internal tensile stresses that cause cracking, spalling and delamination of the concrete cover.
The two primary causes of reinforcement corrosion are carbonation of the concrete cover — which destroys the passive oxide layer protecting the steel — and chloride ingress from marine environments, de-icing salts or contaminated aggregates.
CFS Projects India provides comprehensive corrosion investigation and mitigation services, combining electrochemical testing, engineering assessment and proven repair and protection systems to restore and protect affected structures.
What We Offer
Corrosion Mitigation Services
Corrosion Investigation
Electrochemical investigation using half-cell potential mapping, concrete resistivity and carbonation testing to assess the extent and severity of corrosion activity.
Reinforcement Exposure Assessment
Controlled exposure of corroded reinforcement to assess the degree of section loss and determine the appropriate repair strategy.
Rust Removal
Mechanical removal of corrosion products from exposed reinforcement to prepare the surface for treatment and repair.
Passivation
Application of corrosion-inhibiting coatings to cleaned reinforcement to restore the passive layer and prevent further corrosion.
Repair Mortar Systems
Reinstatement of concrete cover using polymer-modified repair mortars with appropriate chloride resistance and compatibility with the parent concrete.
Protective Coatings
Application of surface-applied protective coatings to reduce future chloride and carbonation ingress and extend the service life of the structure.
Durability Improvement
Comprehensive durability enhancement programmes combining repair, protection and monitoring to maximise the remaining service life of the structure.
Sacrificial Anode Cathodic Protection (SACP)
Installation of sacrificial zinc anodes to provide electrochemical protection to reinforcement in chloride-contaminated concrete, requiring no external power source.
Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP)
Design and installation of impressed current cathodic protection systems for large or complex structures, providing active electrochemical protection to steel reinforcement with continuous monitoring capability.
