NDT engineer conducting concrete testing

SERVICE

Non-Destructive Testing

Advanced investigation techniques to understand the condition of concrete and reinforcement without unnecessary damage to the structure.

What is Non-Destructive Testing?

Non-destructive testing (NDT) refers to a range of investigation techniques used to assess the condition of a structure or material without causing damage. In structural engineering, NDT is used to evaluate the quality and condition of concrete, reinforcement and other structural materials.

NDT is an essential component of any thorough structural investigation. It provides quantitative data to supplement visual observations, enabling engineers to make informed decisions about the condition of a structure and the most appropriate repair or rehabilitation strategy.

CFS Projects India uses a range of NDT techniques, selected based on the specific investigation objectives, structure type and site conditions.

What We Offer

NDT Techniques We Use

Rebound Hammer Test

Estimates the surface hardness and compressive strength of concrete. A quick, cost-effective screening tool for assessing concrete quality across large areas.

Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity (UPV)

Measures the velocity of ultrasonic pulses through concrete to assess uniformity, detect voids, cracks and delamination, and estimate concrete quality.

Cover Meter Survey

Locates reinforcement bars and measures concrete cover depth — critical for assessing corrosion risk and verifying construction compliance.

Half-Cell Potential

Assesses the probability of active reinforcement corrosion by measuring the electrochemical potential of embedded steel.

Concrete Resistivity

Measures the electrical resistivity of concrete as an indicator of its permeability and the rate of corrosion activity.

Carbonation Assessment

Determines the depth of carbonation in concrete — a key factor in the depassivation of reinforcement and onset of corrosion.

Rebar Detection

Identifies the location, spacing and depth of reinforcement bars using electromagnetic or ground-penetrating radar techniques.

Core Testing Coordination

Coordination of concrete core extraction and laboratory testing for compressive strength, chloride content and petrographic analysis.
